what if you only impressed yourself?
this is what I asked myself when a dear friend and magical collaborator came to visit me last week and I wasn’t able to have my house look the way I wanted it to look after recovering from surgery over the last 5 weeks.
as she walked in the door, she hugged me and told me that in no uncertain terms did i need to impress her, it was at that moment that I looked at her and said, “but what if just once, i’d like to impress myself?” what would that look like? not caring what other people thought? placing stock in my needs and my desires and not what others wanted or caring about what they expected. what if, I did things that Brought me joy first and their joy was a jubilant by-product of that? it’s a lot to sit with, we aren't trained to feel that way. we have been indoctrinated over centuries of ancestors to put ourselves last. it is 2026 and time to break the cycle of not putting ourselves on the list of people we love. I imagine I have company in that contemplation and if you’d like to talk about it, I’m here and ready to listen. I have a cup of cacao with our name on it. (maybe not literally…but you know what I mean…lol)
in these last 8 weeks, my hubby and I built the fairy arch that I shared with you last week as well as the most beautiful spiral rose quartz mini pond altar a witch could ask for in the cacao dimension garden. we started the whole process on Litha and finally installed the focal point last night and I am seriously in love with it. it is not completely finished, there are a few more steps to go…but this heat…yikes, 100 degrees and rising, I’m not doing too much in the garden other than water and admire the ferocious strength of my plant allies under the stress being thrust upon them by grandfather sun (through no fault of his, but we will visit that another time). I will share photos at the end of the new altar and some of my plant allies.
until then, let’s talk about some fun things coming up with grandmother cacao this month. I am super excited to be collaborating on a couple of these rituals with two dear sister friends; my reiki master of masters and healer, Denise panner and the incredible artist and fellow forest wanderer Sandy Eckert.
